Over time our teeth will experience normal wear and tear, but there may also be other factors that can cause our teeth to wear more than normal.  Whether it happens quickly, or over a period of time, it can expose the dentin, the softer tissue underneath, and can impact chewing, appearance and even be painful. At C R Dental GroupDr. James Reisman voted one of the Best Dentists in Dallas, and Dr. Jordana Contrucci provide beautiful dental restorations to repair damaged smiles. Depending on the severity of the deterioration, the following treatment methods can be used to renew your smile.

Dental Bonding

Dental Bonding involves using a material called composite resin. It is engineered to match the color of your teeth and designed to build the damaged part of the tooth back up. Usually completed in just one appointment, dental bonding can make teeth appear longer and decrease chances of future damage. Bonded teeth need to be treated with care and bonding material usually needs to be reapplied every so often to continue to protect the tooth.

Porcelain Veneers

Sometimes called ‘Laminates’, Porcelain Veneers are lightweight shells that are placed over damaged teeth and permanently bonded. They can alleviate sensitivity and restore function. Impressions are taken and sent to a lab for fabrication. With the ability to customize color, they can enhance your smile with whiter teeth for a total makeover!

Dental Crowns

For extreme wear, dental crowns may be recommended. In severe cases, the lower and/or upper arch may need to be built up to restore full function. The teeth are shaped, impressions are taken and sent to the lab,  a very durable porcelain material is used to fabricate the crown, and they are permanently bonded in place. The color can also be customized to improve appearance while creating a more natural looking smile.

There should be a thorough examination and honest discussion with your dentist to determine the root cause for your worn down teeth and the extent of the damage. From this, together you can decide what the best course of direction should be to repair and restore your smile. At C R Dental Group we not only want to help you have a beautiful smile, but to keep your overall oral health in optimum condition.
